Born in Colo, Story, Iowa, USA on 28 Jan 1877 to Alexander Cross Barrett and Martha Ellen Dickinson. She passed away on 23 Feb 1879 in Nevada, Story, Iowa, USA.
From Diana Smith, my best findagrave friend, an obituary
From Nevada Representative February 26, 1879
Died.
Sunday evening, February 23d, 1879, of typhoid pneumonia, Mellie, youngest daughter of A. C. and M. E. Barrett, aged 2 years and 25 days.
Alas! how sudden death will come,
When we are not aware,
And snatch away from our embrace,
A loved one of our care.
But let us meet those happy ones,
Who have passed on before,
And form a far more happy band
Than e'er we died before.
This was my grandma Merle's older sister. Grandma ended up being the youngest of the 10 Barrett children. They were: Eva Iona, Anis Rose, James William, Mellie, Nellie, Mary Estella, Jesse Gilbert, Lula May, John Alden & Chloe Merle.
