HASLER, THELMA LEE (HAYDEN), 86, of Louisville, took the hand of Christ and walked into eternal peace on April 26, 2013 following a brief illness.


Born in Irvington, KY on May 21, 1926, she was the daughter and oldest of five children born to Charles W. and Jeanette A. Hayden.


Prior to retiring as a key punch operator / data processor from Blue Cross & Blue Shield in 1987 following 15 years of service, she lead a full and active life enjoying bowling, winning many trophies and awards for her accomplishments. She also enjoyed dancing, roller skating, playing the guitar and singing in her early years. Her later life years she did what she truly loved -- serving and helping others.


She dedicated her life's later years as a volunteer giving more than 12,000 hours to Our Lady of Peace and Sacred Heart Village with a combined service time of more than 20 years. She was an active member of the Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Auxiliary and St. Therese Catholic Church Fan Club. She was a Catholic and a faithful member of St. Therese and a Eucharistic Minister, sharing the Lord with those unable to attend service.


In 2010 she moved into The Altenheim Retirement Community with her late husband, Welton C. Hasler. Sr., where she continued to enjoy life and remained until her illness. She loved the many activities, social events and simply meeting people to create new friendships. She was loved for her kindness, gentle nature and smile.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Welton, her parents and three sons, Glen Bast, William S. Caudill and John T. Caudill.
