My father died of Bone Cancer. He always loved life. I remember he had two strokes back in 2001. I never seen anyone that wanted to live more than my father. He overcame Prostate Cancer, Mouth Cancer, and went into remission from Bone Cancer. No matter what, he told me he wanted to live forever. I think losing Pixie was the worst thing that ever happened, besides losing his mother at age 7. Despite my dad's hardship he said, "Its okay because I will see my mother and Pixie again." 7 years later, after Pixie died, he was reunited with them, in Heaven. I heard my Dad drove the last three weeks, around Eden. Just really sick the last two months, when he could no longer fight the cancer. I love you Dad. Your Free now, you finally won!

He was always happy. He told me he had the best physician and some of the greatest people praying for him. The last time I saw my father, was in 2006, at his brother, Grover's funeral. I sat in the lobby, with my arm wrapped around my Dad's shoulder, while he cried. He said nothing, as it made him more sad to go to funerals and hospitals. He would not go in to view Grover, so I sat with him. I am glad I got to that last day with him. I always thought I would see him again, but I moved to California a few weeks later. The biggest mistake I ever made. I never saw my dad again and the marriage ended in divorce. I think of all the times I could of spent with my father, as I had no family in California. My ex husband went off to war and left me with his family. Very sad, since they never cared for me. My Dad pleaded with me to come home. I nearly never will forgive myself, for not listening to my father. He may have not been around all my life, but he had common sense. I am glad I got to see more of him from age 19-30. I moved back to North Carolina and spent more time with him. I am sorry I never came back home Dad. I had rather spent time with my wonderful father, than my in-laws. I love you and miss you forever.

ONE THING MY DAD ALWAYS SAID TO ME, "HEATHER, IF YOU CAN'T DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT."

My dad used to sing, "Christian Solider", "My Silver head Daddy", which I always though the songs were about him and his life. Also, "Stew ball was a racehorse" and "Bobby McGee", two songs he sang with my mother. He always loved my mother and never got over their separation. After 11 years, he said it was like the heartbreak of losing his mothers all over again.
