Obituary,
Beamsville Express, Jan. 24, 1940, p. 1:
One of Clinton Township's highly esteemed and well-known citizens in the person of Daniel H. Moyer, passed away at his home in Campden on Monday, Jan. 22nd, in his 80th year. Mr. Moyer had not been well for some time. He was born on the homestead where he has always resided up to his passing. Mr. Moyer took an active interest in the community and was for a number of years a member of the Clinton Township Council, both as councillor and reeve, and was an ex-warden of the county, having held that high office twice, first in 1896 and again in 1901. He was always very sincere in all his undertakings. Even though not being in municipal life for a number of years, up until two years ago, he never failed to attend the nomination meetings, and always received a nomination for Reeve, this being sure he would be heard from as his counsel and advice was always appreciated by the ratepayers. Mr. Moyer was a strong advocate of temperance and a staunch Conservative, and in 1919 ran as the Conservative candidate for Lincoln for the provincial house, on the temperance platform, but was defeated. He was an adherent of Tintern United Church and had sung in the choir over 50 years. Left to mourn his loss is one son, Arthur. Mrs. Moyer predeceased him about two years ago.
The funeral will be held from his late residence on Thursday with service at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Vineland cemetery. Rev. G. Ivany will officiate at the services. The pallbearers will be Messrs. John Moyer, Samuel Gayman, Blake Davidson, Morden Chrysler, Dudley Comfort and Harold Martin.
