DEATH OF MRS. CARTWRIGHT.
A Universally Beloved Woman has Passed Away.

Mrs. Mary Louise Cartwright, wife of Bruce Cartwright, died at the Queen's Hospital last night at 9:40 o'clock. The funeral will be held at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon from the family residence on Beretania near Punahou street. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Alexander Mackintosh. Mrs. Cartwright was born Wells. Her father, Norfolk Wells, was a pioneer of Stanislaus county, California. She was married when 18 years of age. She leaves two children, a son, Bruce, 16 years old, and a daughter, Kathleen, 14 years old. Her mother, three brothers and a sister residing in California, survive her. Her father died about nine years ago. Mrs. Cartwright had been ill for several months. About two weeks ago disease became malignant. At a consultation it was decided that the only hope of saving her life was an operation and she was removed to the Queen's Hospital. On Sunday the operation was performed, and for a time hope of recovery was entertained. Mrs. Cartwright was a leader in social and religious affairs, active and efficient in all good works. In all benevolent and philanthropic movements her loss will be felt because of the work she did and the influences she set in motion. To a wide circle of friends her death will came [sic] as a personal bereavement because of her beautiful character and her intellectual attainments and qualities.
