Pearl G. Purcell, age 91, of Abingdon, MD, died on April 16, 2011 at Hart Heritage in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Vincent Michael and Josephine Antoinette Sassone Barranco, and wife of the late Charles H. Purcell Sr. As a child, she attended St. Margaret's Catholic School. She worked at Bata Shoe Factory and at the Bel Air Diner. Her husband worked with race horses and they traveled throughout Maryland, New Jersey, and Florida. She lived in Hallandale Beach, Florida for many years before returning to Harford County in 2007. She was a lover of animals, especially her pet parrots, Coco and Candy.

Mrs. Purcell is survived by her sister, Stella Souders of Bel Air, MD; and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Charles H. Purcell Jr., and eight siblings.
