Margaret Erwin was born in Olney, OK, on November 13th, 1917, to John Miles Moore, a former state representative for Coal and Johnston Counties, and Celestial Pearl Parker Moore. She passed away peacefully as she slept in the early afternoon of May 17th, 2011. She graduated from Henryetta High School in 1935 and attended Oklahoma A&M. Margaret worked for the Henryetta Daily Freelance until she went to work for Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa during WWII. There she met and married her husband, Harold Erwin. They raised their family in Tulsa, Tahlequah, Henryetta and Muskogee. Always a proponent of education, Margaret was a dynamic manager for Field Enterprises Educational Corporation, and President of the PTA Council in Muskogee for many years. After being widowed, she moved to Tulsa where she enjoyed her hobby of ballroom dancing. Later, she moved to Mustang to run a laundry and dry-cleaning business. Then Margaret moved to Oklahoma City and became a realtor and broker for the Burroughs Company where she made many friends. She continued amateur ballroom dancing and won many trophies including United States Paso Doble and Tango championships. She also enjoyed celebrating her birthday in Las Vegas every year with her friends from Burroughs Company. Margaret never retired from real estate. She was 91 when she sold her last property. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Erwin; her son, Dr. David Erwin; her brother, John P. Moore; her sister, Gertrene Wason; and her great-grandson, Eric Huckabay. She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Allen of OKC; her son, Dr. Phillip Erwin of Claremont, CA; and her son, Michael Erwin of Norman, OK. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces. The family appreciates the loving care of Dr. Karen Ross, Good Shepherd Hospice, and friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21st, at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary North Colonial Chapel, No cussing or spitting will be allowed, and if you are smoking you had better be on fire!
