The decedent was born in Blue
Ridge, Ill. July 27, 1873, and when
but a small boy he came to Buena
Vista county with his father and
located on a farm near Storm Lake.
In 1892 he began his career in railroading,
in which work he continued
uutil his death. On May 3, 1895,
Mr. Chamberlain was married to
Miss Marie Helt of Harrisonville,
Mo., and in the same year they
went to Perry to work for the
C. M & St. Paul Ky. Co., as brakeman
and has continued in their employ
since, being promoted to conductor
eight years ago. He was
one of the most popular men on the
road and was held in the very highest
esteem both by the company and
the men with whom he worked.
Mr. Chamberlain was a member of
the L. B. Beardsley lodge, No. 86
and held the office of
secretary for a number of years.
He leaves to mourn his untimely
death, his wife, his daughter Mabel,
his father and mother and two sisters,
Mrs. George Webster of Los
Angeles, Calif., and Erma of this
city. He was an affectionate husband,
kind father and true friend
and his death has cast much saduess
on the lives of his loved ones
and breaks the friendship which
bound him to his many associates.
The parents and the sister in this
city have the sympathy of many
friends in their sorrow.
