Mrs. Fowler was born in Union on November 3, 1917, a daughter of the late Frank Arthur Johnson and Dora (Dunlap) Johnson. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Harold Fowler.
A member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, the Mary Lybrand Sunday School Class, the Faith Circle, she was a former Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Fowler attended USC-Union and Wofford College Theology classes and retired from United Merchants, Union Plant.
She was the mother of the following children: a son, Kenneth D. Fowler, deceased, daughters, Brenda Weaver, deceased, Harriette Harris, deceased, Pamela Laster of Spartanburg, Mary Herring of Columbia; sons, Benjamin Fowler, deceased and Layton Fowler of Laurens; a sister, Sara Medford of Union; a brother, Henry Johnson of Jonesville; 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Tommy Bailey and the Rev. Ray Harold Belue. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Doug Weaver Jr., Derrick Mitchell, Harold Harris, Ryan Vance, Tommy Laster and Jerry Harris.
The body remained at the funeral home where the family received friends, Wednesday, May 11, 2005, 6:00-8:00 p.m. and was placed in the church at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005 to await the hour of service.
Memorials could be made to Duncan Acres United Methodist Church for their various programs that they support at 417 Rice Ave., Union, S.C. 29379.
