A projection from a large airplane wing jig being hauled to Nashville via Route 70 on a truck struck and instantly killed Clyde Myers, 46, on January 23. The accident occurred near Builder's Supply Co on Rockwood Street and was the first traffic fatality in Crossville this year.
Patrolmen of the local station were escorting the truck and the hauling company had pickup trucks preceding and following the jig.
Mr Myers was said to have been walking well over on the shoulder of the highway in the same direction as the truck was traveling.
Funeral services for Myers were held Friday with burial in the City cemetery.
Mr Myers was a mechanic employed by Welch Oil Co, and a native of Cumberland county.
Surviving are his wife; their 3 children, Mrs Charles Arwood, Wooster, Oh; Hubert, Smyrna Air Base; Carolyn, at home; his Mother, Mrs Jane Brewer; a sister, Mrs Clyde Hassler; 2 brothers, Reves, who lives here; Earl, Miami, Fl.
