The child was found by his father Saturday. Rowley told Sheriff Bernard Collins that his wife said the baby had fallen out of his crib.
Reece said the child "had many bruises" and that he ordered an autopsy performed at Wisconsin General Hospital in Madison. Results of the autopsy will be reported today at the inquest.
Surviving besides the parents are eight other children, all at home; his grandmother, Mrs. Ole Osby, Argyle; and his grandfather, Leman Rowley, Shullsburg.
Funeral services tentatively are set for 1:30 pm Tuesday in the Nelson Sharer funeral home, Darlington. The Rev. E.J. Jeffrey, pastor of the Darlington Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery.
