Corning, February 12th – Mrs. Maria Durfee Walker, aged 89 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. Glen Cole, 227 Cedar street, at 4:30 o’clock Sunday morning. Sometime ago Mrs. Walker sustained an injury to her hip and since has failed in her health. Her condition had been serious for the past three weeks.

Decedent was born in Palmyra, March 20th, 1828 and was the daughter of Edward and Maria Townsend. In 1853 she was married to Charles C. B. Walker at Palmyra. Since her marriage she had resided in Corning. Her husband, who is prominent in business and a former Congressman, died in 1888. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Glenn Cole for about 20 years. She is survived by two daughters Mrs. James A. Drake and Mrs. C. Glenn Cole, of Corning, and the following grandchildren Mrs. J. Joseph McCarty, Mrs. Margaret T. Drake and Dorothy Drake, Lieutenant Sidney T. Cole, Lieutenant Glen W. Cole, Miss Dorothy Cole, of Corning, Edwin S. Walker, Jr., Miss Marie Walker and Alva Walker, of Palmyra, New York. Three Sons, Alvo Walker, Charles E Walker and Edwin S. Walker are deceased.

The funeral was held from 237 Cedar street Tuesday afternoon at 3. The Reverend John Chester Ball pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiated burial will be at Palmyra.
