John was born "Johannes Hill" in Brunnental, Russia. He came to the US with his parents and siblings, arriving 22 Nov 1907 in Boston, MA. He served in WWI, 5 Sept 1918 to 26 Apr 1919, with the Fourth Company, 2nd Battalion, 164th Depot Brigade, US Army. John died at the VA Hospital in Wichita, Kansas and was buried 2 May 1949.
