MERCER
James Edward Mercer, 70, of 5413 Fresno, passed away Monday at a local hospital.

A native of Crowell, Texas, he retired as a purchasing agent for Celanese. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and a member of the Chamberlain Masonic Lodge #913
of Kingsville.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Ray Mercer of Corpus Christi; two sons, James E. Mercer of Memphis, Texas, and William R. (Bill) Mercer of Lake Charles, Louisiana;
four brothers, Walter of Orosi, California, Mike of Cloverdale, Indiana, Sam of Corpus Christi, and E. D. Mercer of Portland, Texas; three grandchildren; and six nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Thursday at the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
