Services for A.L. Sipes, 77, of Longview, will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2005, at the Welch Funeral & Memorial Center Chapel, 4619 Judson Road, with Pastor Tom Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Park Cemetery. Mr. Sipes died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Sipes was born October 16, 1927, in Beckville, to Robert Lee and Ada Brightwell Sipes. He was a longtime resident of the Longview area, and a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Sipes worked for Ranger Metals since 1988, and was a former purchasing manager for Wellman Industries. He enjoyed league bowling, fishing, and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; and sister, Olivia Cooper. Mr. Sipes is survived by his children, Margaret Quinn of Longview, Ron Sipes of Fort Worth, Debbie Conner of Longview, Teresa Hurley of Austin, Ricky Sipes McGaughey of Longview, Lorri Kelsey of Longview, Harold Sipes of Longview, and Jennifer King of Marshall; brothers and sisters, Effie McComb of Mineola, Ada Mae Waldron of Longview, James Sipes of Longview, and Katherine Noll of Longview; five halrothers and two halsters; and grandchildren, Dennis and Kevin Quinn, Sam and Dan Sipes, Jake Connor, Monica and Martha Hurley, Jeremy, Amanda, and Amber Sipes, Elizabeth McGaughey, Katie Kelsey, Ember, Cody, and Noah Sipes, and Jessica and Jimmy King. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. today, Sunday, May 1, 2005, at the funeral & memorial center.
