She was born in Hibernia, Kentucky March 8, 1890 (obit read 1900, but if you take age it equals 1890), the daughter of Rev. Samuel Underwood and Rachel Judd Underwood. She was married to Samuel T. Purvis July 11, 1906 in Hodgenville, Kentucky. She is survived by her husband, Samuel, six daughters (Beatrice) Mrs. Lee Wright, Deer Grove; (Marie) Mrs. Albert Wright, of Tampico; (Dorothy) Mrs. Richard Whipple, Wyanet; (Mildred) Mrs. Lloyd Wallace, Wyanet; (Veria)) Mrs, Lawrence Wooden, Tiskilwa; (Shirley) Mrs. Denny Wood, Wyanet; two sons, Walter, of Capron; Merle, of Princeton; her mother, Rachel B. Houston of Buffalo, Ky., two sisters, Mrs. Alpha Stillwell, Hodgenville, Ky., and Mrs. Earl Bell of Buffalo, Ky.; one brother; Clreveland Underwood, Hibernia, Ky; 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; one son in infancy, one sister. She came to Illinois in 1912 and attended Wesley Methodist Church of Wyanet. Funeral services were held at the Wesley Methodist Church at 2n p.m. on Thursday, July 4. Internment was in Elm Lawn, Princeton. (Bureau County Republican, Bureau County, Illinois) this was in 1957
