Blanchester Pastor Was Graduated For Ministry in 1879
Rev. R.S. Kellerman, 99, pastor emeritus of Blanchester Universalist Church, died Saturday at 3:20 p.m. at his residence, 315 Depot street, Blanchester. He had been in failing health for several years & for the past 14 months was confined to his bed much of the time.
The oldest graduate of Tufta Divinity School, Medford, Mass., Rev. Kellerman is believed to have given the longest continous service of any minister in the Universalist Church in the nation. He was graduated from Tufts in 1879, & receved a citation of merit for his long service as a minister in October, 1953.
Rev. Kellerman always was interested in community & civil affairs in Blanchester & only recently resigned his position as president of the village Library Board after many years of loyal service.
The son of Daniel & Ida Ashbrock Kellerman, he was born at Cedar Hil Sept. 19, 1855, & had resided in Blanchester since 1908. He retired from the active ministry several years ago, but after that as long as his health permitted was called on for religious services.
Survivors are four daughters, Miss Anne Kellerman at home, Mrs. Helen Bates of Blanchester, Mrs. Daisy McCulloch of Saugatrick, Conn., & Mrs. Linnie Williams of Columbus; & two sons, Rev. Robert Kellerman of Monticello Fla., & Stanley Kellerman of Mill Valey, Calif. His wife, Mrs. Anna Kellerman, died in 1944.
Funeral services will be held at the Eichelberger Funeral Home, Blanchester, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donald Evans of Akron, in charge, & interment will be in Blanchester I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral haome after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
