A funeral for Thomas Max Chamberlain of Dundee will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kanab, Utah. Interment will be in Kanab Cemetery.
Mr. Chamberlain died Feb. 18, 2002, in Providence Newberg Hospital. He was 73.
He was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Alton, Utah, the son of Guy and Vera Heaton Chamberlain. He graduated from Kanab High School.
He and VelDean Richardson were married in 1948 in St. George, Utah.
He went on a mission in Canada from 1950 to 1952, as a member of the Mormon church. He joined the Army and served for two years, stationed at Ft. Ord, Calif.
He became a general contractor in the San Fernando Valley and, when he was 28, built the first high-rise building in the valley, Chamberlain Towers. He and his first wife were divorced.
He and Carla Dodge were married in 1978 in St. George.
The couple later divorced. He continued as a general contractor, building church structures throughout the West and Utah. He moved to Dayton in 1997 and to Dundee a year later. He belonged to the Newberg First Ward of the Mormon church. He enjoyed painting and designing buildings on a computer.
Survivors include five daughters, Leanne Bowers of Dayton, Lynette Minson of Tigard, Lorleen Braunberger of Detroit, Mich., Cynthia Chamberlain of West Jordan, Utah, and Lesly Goodman of Frazier Park, Calif.; four sons, Jeffrey Chamberlain of Agoura Hills, Calif., Blair Chamberlain and Curtis Chamberlain, both of Camarillo, Calif., and Micah Chamberlain of Anaheim, Calif.; two brothers, Cloyd Chamberlain of Kanab and Jonathan Chamberlain of Orem, Utah; two sisters, Bonnie Cutler of Clayton, Calif., and LaDonna Ogden of Kanab; and 45 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lamond Chamberlain and Garth Chamberlain.
Arrangements are under the direction of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville.
