Farrell Glen Ahlstrom, 84, passed away April 19, 2005, at his home from natural causes.

Farrell was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Shelley, Idaho, to James Peter Ahlstrom and Sarepta Matilda Jolley Ahlstrom. He was the youngest of 11 children. He grew up in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1939.

While working as a mail clerk on the trains, Farrell enlisted in the U. S.

Navy in 1942. He graduated from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania Submarine School. He served four years in World War II as a Technical Specialist in Submarine Service, South Pacific.

In 1947 he graduated from Kansas City School of Watchmaking.

Farrell chose Anna Marie Hubbard of Elba, Idaho, as his eternal companion. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple Nov. 24, 1948. They have four sons.

Farrell retired from Westinghouse at the Naval Reactor Facility as a Senior Technician in March 1984, after 28 years.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a ward clerk for 15 years, as a temple worker for 14 years, and in various other church functions.

Farrell enjoyed traveling, rock hounding, river rafting, camping, meeting new people, and collecting jokes and mineral curiosities. He loved to wait on his family and perform magic tricks for his grandchildren.

Farrell leaves his wife, Marie, of Idaho Falls; four sons, David (Vickie) Ahlstrom of Orem, Utah, Douglas (Julie) Ahlstrom of Tooele, Utah, Richard (Anna) Ahlstrom of Volga, S. D., and Scott (Beverly) Ahlstrom of Clearfield, Utah; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 23, at the Osgood LDS Ward, 7940 North 35th West, with Bishop Gregg Landon officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and for one hour Saturday before services at the church.
