Margaret N. "Peggy" Hunter, 917 Hiawatha, died Tuesday at her home.

She was born in Valier, a daughter of Dr. William and Florine Hunter. When she was a small child her family moved to Great Falls, and it later moved to Helena in 1920. A year later, the family moved to the present residence on Hiawatha Street.

She attended Kessler, Hawthorne and Helena High schools, graduating from high school in 1934. She graduated from Helena Business College in 1936.

During her working years, Miss Hunter worked as a bookkeeper for Mountain Bell, Union Bank, the State of Montana and Eddy Bakeries. She retired in 1982.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist of Helena and The Mother Church in Boston. She was a longtime Sunday School teacher.

Miss Hunter was a 50 year member of Josephine Hepner Chapter No. 89 O.E.S. and was also a member of Daughters of the Nile, Florence Crittenton Home Auxiliary, Metropolitan Dinner Club, and the Lewis and Clark and Helena Republican Women's Clubs.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Hunter, in 1938, a brother, Lloyed in 1961, and her parents.

Surviving family members include brothers and sister-in-law, Dan and Sadie Hunter and Bob Hunter, all of Helena, and Bill and Wenona Hunter of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Fae and Don Lamb of Chino, Calif. and Aggie Hunter of Helena; nine nieces and nephews, including Barbra Mullin and her husband Don of Helena and Janet Hunter of Lavina, whom Mrs. Hunter raised as children and Bill Hunter and Dr. M Brooke Hunter, both of Helena.

Private family services have been held. Burial of cremains will be in Forestvale Cemetery.
