Eric [Erik] Egertson, Wallingford, Dies at 72
Heart Ailment Cause of Death
Eric Egertson, 72, longtime resident of the Wallingford community, died 5:15 a.m. today at his home in Wallingford. Death was attributed to heart disease and he had been ailing for two or three years.

Egertson, formerly a farmer, and in later years a carpenter, was born Jan. 29, 1877, in Norway and came to this country with his parents when about five years old. They settled in the Wallingford community where he grew to young manhood. In 1901 he married Sophia Myhre of Estherville and the couple lived near Wallingford until about 1919 moving to Albert Lea and returning to Wallingford about 25 years later. Mrs. Egertson died about seven years ago.

He was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran church.

Survivors include five sons: Lauritz of Albert Lea, Ernest of Minneapolis; Kermit of Portland, Ore., the Rev. H.O. Egertson of Los Angeles and Oswald of Fullerton, Calif.; four sisters, Belle and Gunda of Wallingford, Mrs. N.G. Husby of Jackson, and Mrs. J.A. Nelson of Luverne, and a brother, Lars, of Wallingford.

Services for Eric Egertson, 72, Wallingford, will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at Belle Egertson home in Wallingford and at 2 p.m. in Wallingford Lutheran church, Rev. C. B. Gunderson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery, Wallingford. Egertson died 5:15 a.m. yesterday at his home, of heart attack. A native of Norway, he had lived in Wallingford most of his life since infancy except for 25 years spent at Albert Lea, Minn. Friends who wish to pay their last respects may do so by calling until 4 p.m. tomorrow at Sandin Funeral home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 31, 1949)
