Her father John Jerry migrated from Germany at age 14. Her mother Anne Katheryn Tueber was born in Padua Minn also of German parents. Clara's youth was deminated by farm work devotion and the sense of reposibility she felt while helping her parents raise a large family. Five younger brothers, Jack, Lewis, Frank, George and Herman - Henry and Katheryn were older two. They were a Christian Family, going to Mass via horse & buggy or two horse drawn sleigh or wagon - Also walked the three miles in good weather taking short cuts. As a teenager she was employed by Dr. & Mrs. Lewis whose son Sinclair wrote the book "Main Street". Also she clerked in a grocery store in Sauk Center. In her early twenties she and sister Katheryn went ot St. Paul, Minn. to work in Gillette State Hospital. This is where she met her husband Clarence, She later came to California via Union Pacific, Clarence's parents lived in Turlock, But in the Bay Area we were married in 1929 at St. Josephs Catholic Church. They have two sons Donald Lee and Harlan Patrick. They also finished raising her niece after her sister passed away. Have six grandchildren - three great grandchildren. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in Aug. 1979. Thank God for all these blessing.

Note on back - They also hold a 28 year Certificate for Appreciation for Day Care in their Community. Clara was a professional baby sitter for many years and this extended well past the time most people would have retired professionaly.
