John L. Rinehart, son of Christopher and Lucy Winchell Rinehart, was born in Sandusky county, Ohio, October 12, 1856, departed this life at his home at Angola, Indiana, February 19, 1926, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 6 days.

He moved with his parents to Otsego township when he was but a child, and continued to live on the old homestead until soon after his marriage when he moved to a farm at Pleasant Lake. He remained there until he purchased the old homestead and lived there until he moved to Angola 21 years ago.

On December 24, 1882, he was united in marriage to Bertha Shumaker. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Dotts of Scott township, and Mrs. Elsie Whitlock, of Otsego township, who with a wife survive.

He will be greatly missed in the home for he was always a good husband and a kind father. He greatly loved his two little grandchildren and there never was a time when he was too busy or too ill to talk with them.

He was a member of the Order of Odd Fellows lodge No. 180, and will be sadly missed from their fellowship.

He leaves to mourn their loss the wife, Mrs. Bertha Rinehart; the two daughters mentioned above; and two grandchildren; two brothers, George and Elmer Rinehart, of Angola, Ind., together with many other relatives and friends.

“Leave all to God: thy vision cannot scan His ways of righteousness, His depths of grace; But thou shalt know, when thou dost see His face How full of holy love his perfect plan.”

Funeral services were conducted at the home February 21, 1926, at 2 p.m. under the auspices of the Angola lodge number 180 I.O.O.F. Rev. Harry A.P. Homer, of the Methodist Episcopal church, officiating. Music was furnished by the male quartet. Interment in the South Scott Cemetery.
