MONTICELLO - Dorothy L. Alguire, age 78, died on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at her home in Monticello. Visitation will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel in Monticello with Pastor Lee Evenson officiating the funeral service at noon.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Steve) Anderson, of Monticello, and June (Dean) Babcock, of Rush City; her two sons, Perry, of Monticello, Todd (Shanna), of Brainerd; her nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Alguire, on Dec. 15, 1998.

Dorothy was born in Appleton, Wis., to Orville and Myrtle (Tanning) Thompson on Nov. 28, 1929. She grew up and spent most of her childhood in Appleton, Wis., until her family moved to Superior, Wis. A few years after her graduation from Central High School in Superior, she was united in marriage to Jack Alguire on July 30, 1949. They later moved to Duluth, St. Louis Park and then to Brooklyn Center where Dorothy and Jack raised their four children. In 1989, a few years after Jack retired, they moved to South Turtle Lake near Fergus Falls. In June of 1998 they moved to Brainerd. In October of 2004, Dorothy moved to Monticello to be closer to all of her children and grandchildren.

Following the funeral service, the family would like everyone to join in fellowship and a luncheon at Russell's on the Lake, 111 Jefferson Blvd., Big Lake.
