Ellie Schendel, age 87, of Goliad, Texas passed away April 22, 2013 in Victoria, Texas. Ellie was born October 11, 1925 in Karnes County to Robert Sucher and Louise Bues Sucher. She was a former office manager and private secretary for an insurance business. She and C. F. "Dick" Schendel were married on April 19, 1968 in Runge, Texas. Ellie was a devoted housewife and assisted her husband Dick with their cattle ranching operation. She supported her husband's service with the Texas
State Soil and Water Conservation Board as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her sons Pat Justin Schendel and his wife Tess of Ecleto, Texas, Richard Earl Schendel of Austin, Texas, Bill Schendel of Goliad, and Robert Edward Schendel and wife Norma of Yorktown, Texas; daughter Cynthia Ann Nankervis and her husband Bryan of San Marcos, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband Earl Yeary; husband C.F. "Dick" Schendel; sisters Irma Pohl, Hertha Forsyth, Ella Sucher, Frances Pargmann, and Minnie Sievers; and brothers Gus, Herbert, Arthur, Emil, and Walter Sucher. Visitation will begin at 11 AM, Friday, April 26, 2012 at Rhodes Chapel in Runge, Texas with a funeral service at 1 PM, conducted by Pastor James Schendel. Interment will follow in the Runge City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lawrence Ckodre, Caleb Schendel, Gilbert Pargmann, Bryan Nankervis, Larry Schendel, and Don Sucher. Funeral services are entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home where the on-line guestbook may be signed at rhodesfuneralhomeinc.com. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Ellie's caregivers throughout the years, especially Jamie Louden, Dustin Franke, Rosa Brezele, and Shannon Truitt.
