Mrs. Shoudy was the daughter of Jonathan B. James and Sophia George Bunker, both descended from prominent New Hampshire families.

Sophia was the wife of George A. Shoudy, a well-known Rockford Soap manufacturer. Mrs, Shoudy was very active in civil affairs. The activity she was most proud of was being a charter member of the Illinois Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Shoudy took a great interest in genealogy and was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren,
