James Homer "Remus" Crowder, age 76, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He retired from the TN Department of Transportation after 40 years of service. He was an active member and Deacon at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bonnie Belle Holder Crowder; in-laws, Ezekiel and Stella Boring; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Carmel and Hoyt Young, Betty and Hubert Miles, Clinton Rasor, and Ray Chapman; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Orville and Sue Boring.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mae Boring Crowder; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Phillip Mark Crisp; son and daughter-in-law, J. R. and Heather Crowder; grandchildren and spouses, Brandi Crisp, Emily and Josh Davis, and Dakota and Tristan Crowder; step-grandson, Daniel Crisp; loved as a daughter, Debbie Hawn Harrison; loved as grandchildren, Cody Whitehead, Mengesha Brook, and Destiny Boring; twin brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Joyce Crowder; sisters, Hazel Chapman and Deloris Rasor; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willie and Nancy Boring and Raymond and Linda Boring; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Merilyn and George Lee Spradlin and Wannel Anthony; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, April 27, 2013, at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church with the interment to follow at the church cemetery, Elder Tommy Boring, Rev. Rex Everett, and Elder Ricky Boring officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday at the church.
