Wife of Tho's Stoetzle

Stone was destroyed or moved in July, 2002. In most cases the stone was buried in the mass grave that holds the remains of this person along with the 90+ others that were "moved".

In July, 2002, approximately 91 of the oldest stones in the St. Philomena cemetery (now the St. Agnes Parish cemetery) were destroyed when the cemetery was "moved" to expand the parish school. The Archdiocese of St. Louis has agreed to fund the cost of creating a new monument which will list the names and dates of the individuals whose headstones were destroyed. The St. Agnes parish, St. Louis Archdiocese, and a group of genealogists and historians are working together to document the names and dates for the monument. We are also hoping to establish guidelines to help protect cemetery stones for future generations.
