Jerry Dale Rommel was born on February 11, 1944 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Irby Everett "Bollie" and Laura C. (Lierman) Rommel. They lived in the Cedardale community and Jerry attended school in Mayfield, Quinlan, and Mooreland. He graduated from Mooreland High School with the class of 1962. After graduation he went into oilfield work in Nebraska and in 1963 he met the love of his life Jo Alice Shive. Jerry and Jo were united in marriage on July 20, 1968 in Pampa, Texas. This July would have been their 45th anniversary. They made their home in Woodward and have lived here since that time. Jerry started in the building construction business with Paul Legg and later started his own business, Jerry's Construction. He later went into farming and ranching.
He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Jerry loved fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Jo Rommel of the home; brother, Carl Dean Rommel and wife Charolett of Morehead, Kansas; sister-in-law, Sue Cosby and husband Ron of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, Ronnie Shive and wife Lowana of Eufaula, sister-in-law, Patricia Hutchinson and husband Rob of Inola; brother-in-law, Bruce Shive and wife Marie of Mazie, Oklahoma; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
