Dorothy was born December 31, 1917 in Fremont to Harry and Viola (Buck) Nelson. She received her education in Fremont, graduating from Fremont High School in 1936, and then taking business classes at Midland Lutheran College. In her earlier years, she was active in Gradale, a young woman's organization of the YMCA.

She worked for William Stone Insurance & Real Estate as a secretary and she had her real estate license. After the death of William Stone, his business became part of Baldwin-Peterson Co. and she continued working there. Later, she worked for Mr. Lloyd Blair and the Fremont State Co. Then she was employed by the Wiechman Pig Co., and in 1968 she became the office manager for the First United Methodist Church, retiring after 23 years there.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was involved with various committees, including the Monroe committee, the finance committee, and the church council. A member of Mary Circle of the United Methodist Women, she was president for 14 years. She was a member of Arbor Vitae Chapter 92 Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1959 and as secretary for 11 years. She was a member of Satra Temple Daughters of the Nile of Omaha for 57 years and Past President of the Fremont Nile Club. She was a life member and president several times of Beta Sigma Phi, and a member of Nebraska Kappa Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was the last member of SSS (Sit and Sew Some).

On May 17, 1944, Dorothy was married to Marion Clemmer. Marion died in March of 1988. She was also preceded in death by a brother.

Survivors: 2 daughters – Marilyn and husband Gary Luther of Loveland, Colorado
Darlene and husband Allen Barrett of Grandby, Colorado
1 son - Gary and wife Debi Clemmer of Valley
5 grandchildren
12 great grandchildren
1 brother – Dale and wife Jean Nelson of Tucson, Arizona

Funeral will be 2pm Friday April 26, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel will be Thursday from 3pm to 8pm with an Order of the Eastern Star Service, open to the public, at 7pm. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children of Fremont.
