Son of Wiley Grover Higgins,Sr and Hannah (Newton) Higgins.

Confederate Soldier, 11th Battalion, Georgia Artillery (Sumter Flying Artillery), Co. D. Enlisted May 15, 1862 at Americus, GA by Captain J. A. Blackshear for duration of war. Appointed wagoner. Died of typhoid pneumonia at Richmond VA, July 4, 1862. His widow Margaret A. Higgins received a pension in 1890.

The Confederate graves area of this cemetery consists of small block markers with only grave numbers, no names at all and looks to be 3 bodies per grave. Currently (2010) the local Sons of the Confederate are working on documentation every grave and placing "name markers" on them.
