Died of typhoid pneumonia at Richmond VA, July 4, 1862. His widow Margaret A. Higgins received a pension in 1890.
The Confederate graves area of this cemetery consists of small block markers with only grave numbers, no names at all and looks to be 3 bodies per grave. Currently (2010) the local Sons of the Confederate are working on documentation every grave and placing "name markers" on them.
