passed away peacefully at Nora's Place in Rockville on Nov. 17, 2011.
Bruno was born Oct 12, 1914, in Woonsocket, R.I., to Andrew and Katherine Zagora. Bruno was married to Stella Ortyl Zagora for 67 years before her passing six years ago. He served proudly in World War II with the U.S. Navy on the ships USS Alexander J. Luke and USS Honolulu. His love of the American flag was shown with the raising, lowering, and folding daily at his home. He retired from Travelers Insurance.
He leaves behind his son, Lanny and wife, Carolyn of Titusville, Fla., and grandson David Zagora of Cocoa, Fla., and granddaughter, Lynn Zagora of Titusville, Fla.; his son, Donald and wife, Joan, of Tolland and granddaughter, Dawn (Mark) Schoen and great-grandsons, Michael and Matthew of Tolland; granddaughter Daryl (Frank) Leister and great-granddaughters Dannielle Tulis and Stephanie Tulis of Columbia; and granddaughter, Dana Elliott, great-grandson Nicholas Elliott and great-granddaughter Melissa Elliott of Ellington. In addition he leaves his sister, Julia Lemek; Gary Elliott, Steven Tulis, especially George Dumas, Tom and Billy Trapp, longtime Fox Hill Drive neighbors and friends (thank you all), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, Stella, he was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Felix, John, and Michael, and his sister, Barbara Popick.
Private services were held at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home.
In Bruno's memory the family requests that you send cards of support, thank you, and recovery to Greg Caron, 28, a very recent Marine wounded warrior, Ellington High School graduate, and Vernon resident recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
