Ardnella was the eleventh child of Green Williamson Park Shaw and Nora Ann Smith Shaw. Growing up with all sisters and only one brother, she had a close family... and they remained close all their lives.

One day, Bob Brown was standing on a corner in Henrietta, Texas... when a girl he had never met drove by with the wind blowing through her beautiful hair. Bob turned to his friend and said, "I'm going to marry that girl." — It was Ardnella.

She married Robert J. Brown, Jr. on June 5, 1938. They were out for a Sunday drive that day and decided to get married. Bobby called his friend, the Justice of the Peace; they called some of Ardnella's sisters; and they went and got married. After living in Henrietta, Fort Worth, and Santa Rosa, NM, Ardnella and Bob settled in Wichita Falls in 1951... where they raised three children: Pamela, Rob, and David.

They relocated to Thousand Oaks in 1996 to live with Pamela, where she worked and lived.

Longtime friends might remember Ardnella dancing across her high school stage at Wichita Falls Senior High. Her children remember her dancing through a lifetime of joy and excitement she found at every turn.

Ardnella bravely underwent two open heart surgeries with a mitral valve replacement. It was the April 1997 diagnosis of cervical cancer with metastasis to the lungs which took her too quickly from us.

Ardnella passed with dignity and never a complaint... a source of strength for Pamela, Rob, and David. She was cremated on September 18, 1997, in Ventura, California. As yet, her ashes remain with Pamela.
