Minnie "Glasscock" Leslie was born April 18, 1875 in Marion County, Kentucky. She was one of the twelve children of John Preston and Margaret Ellen "Wright" Glasscock. John and Margaret had moved their family from Kentucky to Pilot Point, Denton County, Texas in 1875. The family moved to Oldham County in 1892 because of the great land opportunity. They moved in a covered wagon with the older children walking most of the way. The trip took three weeks. The family found themselves living in a very crowded half dugout house, consisting of one large room. Minnie was seventeen years old at the time. On December 7, 1895 Minnie Glasscock and James Allen Leslie were married. They lived in a two room dogtrot house in Fannin County with James' family, until their second home (a dugout) in Loco, Childress County, Texas could be finished. They lived in the dugout in Loco until 1902, when they moved the 15 miles to Childress so they could take advantage of the amenities offered by city life. They sold the ranch in 1907. They were the parents of six children: Anne "Leslie" Fires, Marguerite "Leslie" Love, Minnie Lee "Leslie" Adams, James Allen Leslie, Jr., William Chafin Leslie and Edna Ruth "Leslie" McConnell. They remained in Childress the rest of their lives raising their family.

As a great-great-granddaughter of Peter Glasscoke (1714-1784) Minnie "Glasscock" Leslie's descendants are entitled to membership in the Sons or Daughters of the American Revolution (SAR/DAR) and other patriotic organizations.
