Mrs. Dora F. Abernathy, 64 years old, passed away Sunday night at Southeast MO Hospital of uremia poisoning. She was taken to the hospital ten days ago and had been ill at her home two weeks before being removed to the hospital. Mrs. Abernathy was born April 5, 1874 near Jackson and was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Gladish. When she was a small child the family moved to a farm about five miles south of Lutesville. She resided there until her marriage April 17, 1892 to Mr. (Andrew) Abernathy; and the family moved to Lutesville about 25 years ago where they have lived since.
Eleven children were born to the union, three sons preceding her in death.
Those who survive are Mrs. Chas. (Ruth) Elfrank; Miss Imogene Abernathy; and Wm. Abernathy, St. Louis; Mrs. R.N. (Belva) Owens, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Orville (Virgie) Waggner, Gasconade; Mrs. Claude (Vesta) Arnold of Puxico; Paul and Leemon of Lutesville. There are 5 grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Arch Henderson of Doniphan; Mrs. Wilbur Eaker of Lutesville and a brother, M.S. Gladish of Lutesville.
The body was brought to the Baker Funeral Home where services were held Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Elmer Shell of Dexter. Burial in the Slaybaugh Cemetery in Lutesville.
