MULLINS [Marion Co.]—Berry C. Alford, 70, of Galivants Ferry, died Thursday [Feb 15] in a local hospital following an illness of five weeks.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at Happy Home Baptist Church.... Burial will be in Gethsemane Baptist Church cemetery, directed by Meares Funeral Service

Born in Horry County, he was the son of the late Lewis H. and Galvin McCracken Alford. He was a member of Happy Home Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Glenn Cook Alford; three sons, Artis D.B. Alford of U.S. Navy, Portsmouth, Va., and H.B. Alford and Billy Alford of Rt. 3, Galivants Ferry; five daughters, Mrs. Clifton Elvington of Lake View, Mrs. Oscar Beaver [Leatha May] of Dillon, Miss Edna Alford and Miss Azile Alford of the home, and Mrs. John Ariola of Waterbury, Conn.; his stepmother, Mrs. Nettie Williamson Alford of Gurley; four brothers, Eli Alford of Gurley, Burden Alford of Galivants Ferry, Branty Alford of Loris and Don Alford of Conway; three sisters, Mrs. Flossie Hilburn, [text appears to be missing here—typesetting error] Small of Galivants Ferry, and 13 grandchildren.
