Victor B. "Gov" Carte Jr., 73, of Dover, Fla., formerly of Parkersburg, departed this life Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Dover.

Mr. Carte was born at Cowskin, near Servia in Braxton County, to the late Victor B. Sr. and Ella Faye Mollohan Carte. He was retired from General Tire in Columbus, Ohio, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he earned the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was awarded a Bronze Star during his tour of duty and was a holder of the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in combat. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church of Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Duffy Carte; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Susan Carte of Avon, Fla., Robert and Earlene Carte of Ocala, Fla., and Carl and Kathy Carte of Wauchula, Fla.; a daughter, Regina "Gena" Carte of Sebring, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mark Curts of Dover, Fla.; sisters, Orlean Garcia of Troy, Mich., Sharron Kalusich of Pontiac, Mich., Anna Grace Geraghty of Point Pleasant, S.C., and LaVaun Lamb of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Carte was preceded in death by a son, Mike Carte.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Landmark Baptist Church of Parkersburg, with Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Interment will be in the Jacks Point Cemetery, near Servia, W.Va.
