1779: Commissioned privateer in command of the USS "Happy Return", owned by John Brown of Providence. By fortunate and recent happenstance, a portrait of Wilson Jacobs I painted in this year currently hangs in the one-time home of his benefactor: John Brown House Museum, 52 Power Street, Providence.

21 April 1781: Commander of Rhode Island privateer sloop USS "Kingbird (or King Bird; Kingbridge)", armed with six guns and a crew of forty-five men. The ship's $20,000.00 bond was signed by Wilson Jacobs and Henry H. Tillinghast of Providence. The American newspapers reported Kingbird's loss on 26 July 1781.

18 March 1782: Boston, MA, a petition signed by Tristram Coffin was submitted to the Governor and Council requesting that Wilson Jacobs be commissioned as commander of the schooner "Reprisal," a privateer. The commission was issued the same day.

10 August 1805: Died in the port city of Portobello, Colon, Panama while on expedition.
