Wilma Margaret Anders, 66, of the Lincoln-Douglas Apartments, died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday (July 20, 1989) in Blessing Hospital where she had been a patient since June 6. She had been in ill health for several years.
Mrs. Anders was born Aug. 14, 1922, in West Point, a daughter of Mack J. and Helena Fisher Newell. She married Don Anders Dec. 6, 1953, in Keokuk, Iowa.
A resident of Hancock County and Keokuk, Iowa, in earlier years, Mrs. Anders worked in Carthage and Keokuk. She had lived in Quincy for 30 years and had been employed in the Quincy Junior High School cafeteria for 12 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Dawn Anders of Quincy; four brothers, Paul Newell of West Point, Don and Mack Newell of Quincy, and Roland Newell of Decatur; four sisters, Celia Newell of West Point, Nina Cochenour and Mrs. Junior (Ruby) Frohn, both of Quincy, and Mrs. Gerald (Luella) Thompson of Hannibal, Mo.; seven nieces; four nephews; and five grandnephews.
Mrs. Anders was preceded in death by her parents and two nieces.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage by the Rev. Tom Brown, OFM. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery.
Visitation will be in the funeral home from 8 a.m. Tuesday, with family meeting friends noon until the service.
A memorial fund has been established.
