She was born on Jan. 31, 1921, in McGee [McGehee], Ark., the daughter of Hubert and Martha (McKenny) Moss. She grew up and received her education in Arkansas; graduating from high school in Dermont [Dermott], Ark. She went on to graduate from Southwestern Bible College in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1942. She then became a traveling evangelist in Arkansas, until she married the love of her life, Leo Hackett, on Feb. 28, 1943, in Fort Worth. The couple then moved to various places over the next nine years; Burwell, Neb., in 1943; Torrington in 1944; Fort Worth in 1945; Torrington in 1947; Arkansas in 1949; and back to Torrington in 1952, where they remained.
Lois was an avid reader and very active in her church. She served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and was Woman Missionary Council leader. She was a loving wife and mother who taught her children life's lessons with wisdom and love. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a love for practical jokes as her friends and family can attest. She was a devoted, loving wife who for 59 1/2 years brought joy, laughter and love to her marriage.
She is survived by her husband, Leo of Torrington; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and George Wilhelm of Torrington, Helen and Fred Zag of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Sheila and Rod Sterkel of Cheyenne; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sharon Hackett of Torrington, Jerry and Jan Hackett of Torrington, Timothy and Pam Hackett of Spartanburg, S.C., Rodney and Jan Hackett of Wickenburg, Ariz., and Capt.
