Mr. F.A. "Red" Davis

Mr. F.A. "Red" Davis, 83, a resident of Homer for the past 53 years, died Jan. 25, 1998 in Shreveport.

Services were Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Homer with Dr. Jimmy Simeon officiating.

Burial was in Arlington Cemetery, Homer, with Masonic Graveside Rites. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath funeral home of Homer.

Mr. Davis was a retired supervisor with the Claiborne Parish School Board. He was an All-State football player at Rayville for three years and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a degree in vocational agriculture. He was a supervisor for the Louisiana State Department of Education from 1966-1971 and later was elected to the BESE in 1974. He started a pine tree plantation in Claiborne Parish in 1948. Mr. Davis was a Master Mason for 52 years, an El Karubah shrine, a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Lions Club and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Davis and one son, Furman J. Davis.

Survivors include a son, Forrest A. Davis of Shreveport; two sisters, Nollie Patton of Texarkana, Texas and Ollie Pahal of Start, La, and four grandchildren, Meredith Anne Davis of Homer, Lori Davis Shapiro, Kelly Davis and Jeff Davis all of Shreveport.
