The graveside funeral for Lucy Belle Spencer, 88, of Bassett, who died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at her home, was held Saturday at Mt. Hermon Church of the Brethren with Daryl B. Martin officiating.
She was born in Franklin County to Franklin Lee Adkins and Lula Jane Brooks Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Spencer; a daughter, Nancy Bowman; four brothers, Joe Adkins, Homer Adkins, Raymond Adkins and Ray Adkins; and two sisters, Janie Hall and Pearl Zigler.
She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and attended Mt. Hermon Church of the Brethren. She had been employed by Bassett Superior Lines.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Simmons and Hazel Handy, both of Bassett; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bassett Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
