The Family Reunion Has Just Begun. On April 19, 2013, George Abbott received a special invitation to the Grand Abbott Family Reunion where he will serve as the guest of honor. He boarded his flight on the wings of angels and made a safe journey to Heaven.

George Merlin Abbott was born September 6, 1928 in Alma, Nebraska. He served in the Navy from 1948-1952 as a radio operator after WWII and during the Korean War. He retired from the Local 995 as an electrician after 56 years.

George is survived by his children, Janet and husband Bill Mosley of Baker, Dale Abbott of Denham Springs, Melvin Abbott of Brusly, Kelvin and wife Evie Abbott of Prairieville, Troy and wife Bonnie Abbott of Texas and their mother, Jeanette V. Tabler of Brusly; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Parker and Luella Miller Abbott; sister, Edna Russell; and brothers, Ray, Glenn and Eldon Abbott.

Visitation will be 4pm-8pm, Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Greenoaks Funeral Home and will resume at the funeral home at 9am, Monday, April 22, 2013 until the Funeral Service at 12pm, officiated by Pastor Tom Sheppard. George will be laid to rest at Greenoaks Memorial Park following the service.

Pallbearers will be Roger Abbott, Jeramie Wilkinson, Drew Abbott, Cameron Abbott, Hunter Mosley, and Megan Mosley.

The family would like to thank the Carpenter House for helping his transition to be comfortable.
