Malvin Hanson was born April 28, 1893, the son of Hans and Mattie (Larson) Hanson on a farm in the St. Olaf area west of Belmond. He was raised and educated in the same area and lived on the same farm his entire life.

On May 2, 1917, he was united in marriage to Luella Josvanger near DeSoto, Wisconsin and to this union were born two sons; Clair and Merlin.

Mr. Hanson was a director of the Belmond Township School Board for 14 years through the time of reorganization with the Belmond Schools. He was a life long memeber of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife Luella, 1 son Clair of Belmond, 6 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Sisters: Mrs. Guy(Inga) Barton of Buffalo Center, and Mrs. Ollie (Helma) Tomson of Canton, South Dakota.

Preceding his in death were his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 son.
