Born March 1, 1935, in Adams County, he was a son of the late James W. and Ethel A. (Hirt) Miller.
He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown, and attended Delone Catholic High School with the class of 1954.
He retired from the McSherrystown Loyal Order of Moose 720 and was employed for 22 years at National Biscuit Co., York. He was a member of the Hanover Home Association; Littlestown Eagles; Hanover Republican Club; CWV of Bonneauville; McSherrystown Home Association; New Oxford Social Club; and the McSherrystown Fish and Game Association. He was a life member of the McSherrystown Moose and a charter founder of the NRA Golden Eagles.
Surviving also are five sons, the Rev. C. Anthony Miller and Timothy P. Miller, both of York, James W. Miller of Hanover, Thomas A. Miller of McSherrystown and David P. Miller of Spring Grove; four daughters, Colleen N. Slusser, Rosemary E. Wilson and Nancy Jane M. Staub, all of Hanover, and Teresa M. Beatty of McSherrystown; 23 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and five sisters, Barbara Bixler, Marie Busbey and Mary Lou Smith, all of Hanover, Ethel Ernst of Virginia and Marion Bange of Camp Hill.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Cyril and Philip Miller.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown, with the Rev. C. Anthony Miller and the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel concelebrating with priests of the Harrisburg Diocese. Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with a prayer service to be held at 8 p.m.
