Walter R. Taylor

GLEN ROCK - Walter R. Taylor, 88, of Glen Rock, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Rest Haven-York. He was the husband of Betty J. (Gladfelter) Taylor.
The service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will be in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery, Glenville. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor was born in York County on July 19, 1905. He was the son of the late Granville B. and Isabella D. (Rohrbaugh) Taylor.
He was employed as a machine operator for over 40 years at the then AMF Union Machinery Division, until his retirement in 1970.
An avid bowler, he was a former member of Golden Age League at Lincoln Way Bowling Center, York, and bowled for many years in leagues at several other bowling centers.
A member of Zion Lutheran Church, he belonged to the Friendly Lodge 287, Knights of Pythias, and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Mr. Taylor also is survived by a son, Aldred L. Taylor of York; a step-son, John R. Black Jr. of York; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy J. Taylor.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Thomas D. Hartley, and Vicar Brian Deckinger.
