Hazel M Harford, only daughter of Frank and Emmogene Hartford, of Deerfield, was born in that town Nov 30, 1893, and there spent most of her life. After finishing her studies in the district school she attended the Waushara Co Training school at Wautoma, graduated from that institution, and then taught school successfully for 8 years, about half that time in her home district. She gave up teaching to assist in the home and care for her mother whose health has been poor for many years. On June 9, 1920, Hazel was married to Hugh Scovell and since then they had carried on the farm. About a year ago her heath began to fail and she grew gradually worse, being confined to her bed the last two months of her life. On June 24h she was taken to St Michael's hospital in Stevens Point for treatment but continued to grow weaker from a complication of ailments resulting in toxine poisoning which caused her death on Sat night, July 7, 1923. The remains were brought back the next day by Undertaker Frank Hamilton who directed the funeral services at the Hartford home Mon afternoon. Rev Cook preached the sermon and interment was made in Woodville cemetery. Those nearest and dearest left to mourn are the husband, parents, and brother Harry. To them all the loss is indeed great, and especially so to the invalid mother who had for years been most thoughtfully, tenderly and patiently cared for by the worthy one whose willing hands are now folded in silent rest. Hazel was a loving wife, dutiful daughter, kind sister and true friend. Surely she hath done nobly her part in the various relations of life. Card of Thanks-To the many good friends for their kindly acts and expressions of sympathy in our great sorrow; the Rev Cook for his words of consolation, for the floral offerings, singing and all other favors, we are deeply grateful. Husband. Parents. Brother.
