CAMERON, Mo. - Phillip William Bray, 96, of Cameron, son of Samuel and Lillie (Dice) Bray, was born Feb. 22, 1912, south of Maysville, Mo.; and passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Sunset Home.

On April 2, 1938, Phillip and Gladys Scurlock were united in marriage in Gallatin, Mo. To this union, three children were born.

Phillip was very active in the community. He served on the Farm Bureau Board; Soil and Water Conservation Board; Cameron School Board; and Wamsley and Christian Chapel Cemetery Boards.

Phillip was a farmer throughout his lifetime. He was a good gardener, beekeeper and enjoyed grafting fruit trees on his farm, where he showed his grandchildren how to make apple cider.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and sisters, Flossie Marshall, James Dice Bray, Florence Bray, Orville Bray, John Lewis Bray, Ralph Malphus Bray and an infant brother; and two granddaughters, Sarah Grace Bray and Katherine Rooney.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Bray of Cameron; three children, Loyd Clark Bray, and wife, Loretta of Cameron; Kenneth Lee Bray, and wife, Margaret of Cameron; and Ruth Ann Rooney, and husband, Michael of Liberty, Mo.; a brother, Samuel Junior Bray of Cameron; seven grandchildren, Terri Jermain, Diana DeHart, Kristie Bray, Kellie Bray, Brad Bray, Mark Rooney and Kim Rooney; and eight great-grandchildren.

The service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Bram Funeral Home, Maysville, with burial in Wamsley Cemetery, Cameron. Friends may call Friday morning, March 14, at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home of Cameron, Comfort Care Hospice or DeKalb County Historical Society.
