Ethel M. Abram Brubaker, 89, formerly of Lancaster and York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Mennonite Home.

Born in Reynoldsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sara Shingledecker Shearon. She was the wife of the late J. William Abram who died in 1973 and the late C. Daniel Brubaker who died in 2001.

Ethel was a homemaker and a foster mother to nineteen infants from 1967-1972. She was a past member of the York and Lancaster Pharmaceutical Auxiliary, Women's Optimist Club and a lifetime member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She enjoyed embroidery, auctions and her Dachshunds.

Surviving are: three children, JoAnn Gillis, Thomas (Lisa) Abram, both of Lancaster, James (Jean) Abram, Ephrata; three stepchildren; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; former son-in-law, Barry Gillis, Florida. She was the last of her immediate family.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main Street, Leola, PA 17540. Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment: Suburban Memorial Gardens, 3875 Bull Road, Dover, PA at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Home Endowment Fund, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
