Last rites for Mrs. Mary L. Burns were held Wednesday afternoon at the Alspaugh and Cowley Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Stanley officiating. Mrs. John McCollough and Mrs. R. D. Alspaugh rendered special music. Pallbearers were Lloyd Couch, Lyman Couch, Hugh Trout, Robert Hufft, Claude Beard, Floyd Wilkerson. Interment was at Cowgill Cemetery.
Mrs. Burns died at 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, in Kansas City following a two years illness.
She was born Jan. 14, 1868 in Dallas County, Missouri, a daughter of William E. and Dicie Ann (Bonds) Dunaway. She was married to John W. Burns who preceeded her in death.
She leaves one son, Oscar Burns of Knoxville, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grand children. One daughter, Mrs. Iva Dingman, also preceeded her in death.
